You can very easily make a CBD drink yourself at home. We’ve rounded up 5 of our favorite CBD drink recipes for you to try. There’s sure to be a recipe for every occasion and preference.

Before we unwind with the drinks, we answer some questions you might have when it comes to CBD drinks.

What is CBD?

Let’s start with the basics. CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the 80 known cannabinoids in the Cannabis Sativa plant. It’s not a psychoactive compound, so no, it won’t get you high. That’s what THC does.

While a lot of research is still needed to fully comprehend the effects of CBD, the results so far look promising. This cannabinoid is widely praised for its health and wellness benefits. That’s why CBD has found such widespread usage.

How is CBD added to drinks?

The easiest and most widely-used method of preparing a CBD-infused drink is by mixing it with some CBD oil. This way you orally ingest the CBD by adding a few drops to your drink of choice.

When CBD is orally ingested it undergoes the ‘first pass effect’, meaning the oil will first pass through the digestive tract and the liver before entering the bloodstream. It typically takes at least 30 minutes before you’ll feel the effects, although everyone is different.

While CBD is deemed safe by the World Health Organization, before introducing it to your diet, it’s recommended to consult with your personal doctor and make sure it won’t negatively interact with any existing health condition or medication of yours.

Can you mix CBD oil with alcohol?

This is a widely-asked question. The short answer is yes – you can take both CBD and alcohol together. But there are a few additional things you should know about how the two interact. If you want an in-depth answer check out our article: CBD and alcohol - Calming Combo or Dangerous Duo?

In summary, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the interaction between CBD and alcohol. They both induce feelings of relaxation, so when taken together, they’ve thought to amplify those calming effects. However, people experience the effects of alcohol and CBD differently.

Overall, it does not appear that mixing the two could be harmful. Either way, you should listen to your body and how you feel when taking CBD and alcohol together.

How to choose the right CBD oil for your drink

-Choose the CBD spectrum you prefer

You might have noticed how CBD oil is either full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or an isolate.

  1. CBD isolate is pure CBD. It does not contain any other compounds
  2. Full-spectrum CBD may contain other compounds of the cannabis plant, including THC. Even though, according to regulations the amount of THC should be under 0.3 percent.
  3. Broad-spectrum CBD falls somewhere in between. It contains other compounds besides CBD, however it does not contain THC.

Your choice will depend on preference. However, many people prefer CBD isolate as it contains only pure CBD and no other compounds. It is completely THC-free, which provides peace of mind for those who do not want to consume any THC.

-Choose the dosage

What CBD dosage should you add to your drink?

The short answer is, it depends. If you don’t have much experience with CBD it is best to start small and then adjust your dosage as you get familiar with it.

You may start with a few drops of a 300mg CBD. See how it makes you feel. Then, adjust accordingly. You will find oils that range in the amount of CBD they contain - from 300mg, to 600mg or 1200mg CBD.

-Choose the CBD flavor

CBD oils may come with different flavors, so they can also enrich your drink’s flavor. For example, our CBD oils come with two natural flavors: lemon and mint. You can also take this factor into consideration and choose an oil with a flavor you like.

-Find quality products

To fully experience the benefits, as well as the taste of CBD, it is important to find products of high quality. With so many options it can be difficult to choose. To ensure that you are buying exactly what is being advertised, look for products that have been tested by third-party laboratories and come with a certificate of quality.

CBD Drink Recipes

When it comes to preparing a CBD drink, your options are as vast as your imagination.

The options range from simply adding a few drops of CBD to your morning coffee or going the extra mile and treating yourself with a delicious recipe like the ones we’ve shared below.

1.   First, CBD coffee!

Since summer is right around the corner, we chose to share an iced coffee recipe with you - CBD Minty Iced Latte.

Inspired by blog.131method, to prepare this drink you need the following ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of mint CBD oil
  • 2 cups milk of choice
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder
  • 2 teaspoons of honey or sweetener of choice
  • ¼ teaspoon of spearmint oil
  • Ice

You mix all the ingredients apart from the CBD oil and ice in the blender and blend for about 90 seconds. Then, add the ice and blend for another 30 seconds. Pour the CBD oil into the mixture and if you feel like being a bit extra, garnish it with mint leaves.

If you do not have all of the above ingredients, do not worry. You can use the same method with different ingredients and prepare your own iced coffee.

2.   CBD tea

CBD and tea are both known for their calming effects. Nowadays you can commonly find CBD-infused tea bags. However, you can also opt for making your own.
